Texas Rowing 2024
For the 2024 season, I lead the creative direction and design execution for the University of Texas Rowing Team in their pursuit of a third national championship. This project page details the process and successes of this season.
the idea:
Paint. With my background in studio art, using the element of painted water was a visually interesting way to incorporate texture to this graphics package. I hand painted water, logos, numbers, and just about anything else we might need for the designs.

I photographed the paintings, and then brought them into Photoshop to create a library of individual elements to work with for each graphic.

The media day photo and video shoot came in early February as well. Keeping things cohesive, we decided on swirling paint for the background of video one-shots that would correspond with boat lineups.
It was great to be involved in all aspects of this team’s season including media day. I shot student-athletes at multiple photo stations as well as capturing behind-the-scenes content.
in-season content
Using the painted elements, we developed multiple Photoshop templates for use throughout the season as the team traveled to regattas in Dallas, San Diego, Michigan, and Florida. A textured canvas background and 3D paper features bring together the organic, painted theme.

I traveled with the team to Sarasota, Florida, to photograph the Big XII Championship regatta in May. With a clean sweep of every race, Texas took home the title and was an immediate qualifier for the National Championship.

National Championship
From May 31-June 2, the NCAA Championship took place in Bethel, Ohio. I added logos and slightly altered the in-season graphics and created some new ones for the events of the weekend.

I was so happy to conclude my work with this team by creating a National Champions graphic. Using photos I took and bringing in my elements from the season’s other designs brought it all together.
